November 2, 2006 (Zeist, Netherlands) the French organisation Braillenet.org has released the French translation of UWEM1.0 and a mapping to the existing Accessiweb label guidelines (already conformant with WCAG). They will use UWEM for their evaluations. A Spanish translation is underway.

July 5, 2006 (Brussels, Belgium) Press release: A Unified Web Evaluation Methodology to evaluate web accessibility across Europe. The Unified Web Evaluation Methodology (UWEM) is developed to ensure that large scale monitoring and local evaluation are harmonised, compatible and coherent among themselves and with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines from W3C/WAI.

July 5, 2006 (Brussels, Belgium) New release of the Unified Web Evaluation Methodology. Today a new version of the UWEM has been released. Version 1 offers clarification of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and a harmonised method to evaluate websites. October 14, 2005 (Zeist, Netherlands): UWEM0.5 online
The Unified Web Evaluation Methodology version 0.5 (draft for evaluation by projects and public) is now available. Please visit the UWEM introduction page. In the coming time we will add different services for review and comments including a mailing list, FAQ section and a questionnaire. Discussion about this is also possible in the EDEAN Benchmarking Special Interest Group.

April 7, 2005 (Paris , France): Policies online
Within the WAB Cluster, the project Support EAM has produced an overview of the policies in Europe regarding Web Accessibility. This document has been worked on with great care and it will be used in the WAB Cluster when working on the Unified Web Evaluation Methodology to ensure an optimal relation to existing policies, legislation and other related work. The document will also be used as input for W3C/WAI work. We hope this overview can also help you. If you see errors or omissions in the document, please contact the Support EAM project.

The projects BenToWeb, EIAO and Support EAM have issued surveys to help them improve and lead the work they are doing. Please have a look at the following pages and help us find the solutions to help the European harmonization and testing for accessibility.
